So in the throes of desperation after waiting 3 months without hearing back from the federal government…. My mother advised me to ask senator Ron Wyden for help resolving my issue with selective service.

I figured sure, why not. One more piss into the ocean will really help me.

So a few weeks back I wrote to the office of the senator and outlined my problems, my frustration, and the urgency of a resolution. Of course I assumed I would never hear back, and for the first few weeks that seemed to be the case…. Until friday.

I arrive Thursday Dec 3rd at 730AM from Tokyo-Narita on NW Airlines.   It’s also the day of Civil War.  I was incorrect in thinking it was that saturday the 5th.

SO!

First question:  If anyone (Warren? Geoffrey?), is available to get me that would be swell.  If not of course my parents have plans to do so unless told other wise.

Second question: Since the game will be on later in the day I can still make it to Albany if you want to dance battle with me Miles.  Let me warn you though I have been training in the land of Rain for this last year.  Perhaps we could venture a trip to rape and pillage Sean in Eugene and catch the game at some place dark and musty?

OK guys I know I’ve reported on this before and it was always a sure thing, this time I swear to god this is for real! It’s in production, finally!

Asteroids, as we all know, is famous for its amazing story and deep gameplay, so we’ll all be chomping at the bit to see how hollywood handles the project.

I do have some major questions:

1. Will Dash Carmine feature in the movie? He played a big part in the game, saving the crew of the TDD Arrow by sacrificing himself in the third stage (just before the UFO)- can they recapture the tear-jerking scene where Alex holds him in her arms, watching him slip away? I don’t want them to ruin it!!!!!
2. Will we see 3D or 2D sequences of the time-jump back to 1772, when the crew fights the Pal’Ku’Qar timeship that’s gone back to crush the American revolution?
3. Are they going to show Caesar and Krishna carpet-bombing Montreal during the Cuban Missile crisis? I know that was from the ‘unofficial’ sequel, but a lot of people (myself included) think it’s totally canonical!
4. Can they really show the part where Jesus shows up in the final stage and pilots the Arrow after the crew are all killed?
5. Are Tom Cruise and The Rock still onboard (as reported years ago when this was still in development hell!) to play Refa-Molosh (the conjoined space baby/galactic emperor)?
6. Will they use Frank Herbert’s original shooting script, or will they use Takeshi Miike’s version?

I’m excited but cautious about this hollywood remake of such a classic franchise! More news as this develops!

This might be a new contender for craziest premise to a show ever:

Thoughts:

1. Immediately I call ‘shenanigans’ due to the baby’s resemblance to Stewie. This phenomenon was probably best described in the brilliant dissertation known in the west as Even A Monkey Can Draw Manga. It’s summary is as follows- “The basis of all manga is theft.”
2. This is about the Mafia, not the Yakuza. Do they really have a presence in Japan?
3. This has been around for years, why have I never even heard of it before tonight?
4. What kind of insanity is it when a Manga-ka can draw this for years and years? Even Toriyama lost it eventually (Arale-Chan! Chapter one, page one, panel two.)
5. If the main story is crazy bullshit then what kind of filler can you use in the anime version? Legal proceedings? Yak sales? Long, drawn-out restaurant scenes set to trumpet solos?
6. Sean, this falls under your realm of responsibility so I’ll ask you first- What’s going on here?!
7. WTF?! Seriously, again, WTF?

So how do you protect japan from giant monsters? Some would say giant monsters, some would say the army, others might suggest using two or more armies. I would recommend transforming robot super teams.
