Red Elvises Show! (they’re playing at Dante’s Tomorrow: Wednesday)

I think I speak for everyone when I say I had a great time tonight. I wish more of us were available to go. More comments (and video, quality allowing) to come.

The show this time had a much larger turn out. But I don’t know if it was better. The previous show was about to have a better play list until two people paid probably around 500 bucks for the band to play Rocketman and Venice USA. They also did 3 regular encore songs (Love Rocket, Drinking with Jesus, and I forget). So that really rounded out their show this time. No Love Pipe unfortunately :(

The reason why I say their last show was better was because they really let it all out for like the 20 of us watching, while this time there was probably 50+ people; many of which seemed to be pretty big fans. They didn’t have to work quite as hard to get the crowd going this time. But it was still a really awesome show.

There’s no way I can do a Portland show tonight. I’m pretty wiped from last night’s show. But don’t let my absence stop you from going…

I was more than a bit worried when we got to the bar and it was closed. I’ll probably never forget the bassist opening the door to tell us what was going on. During sound check I was a bit worried that, like last time, no one would show up.

I pretty much agree with what Jared said.

It’s difficult to say which of the two shows was “better.”

I thought the first show had a better set arrangement, better acoustics, and better solos.

I thought last night’s show had better crowd energy and better encores.

I kind of liked having a larger crowd, that way it didn’t feel like all of the work cheering on the band was placed on our little clique (don’t get me wrong though, I cheered my ass off). I felt last night’s show was a bit too loud. It passed the point of being loud enough for a rock show, and started to drift into headache inducing territory (more acoustics than anything).

The two shows had very different vibes.

The first show was like paying $15 to have the Red Elvises give a private perfomance. The second show was like paying $15 to see the Red Elvises in concert. I’m not sure if people catch my meaning here…

All in all it was a great show, and they’re an incredible band to see live. I got to hear many of the songs I wanted, and will be adding A Keg of Beer and Potato Chips to my list of favorites. And if they do, in fact, return to Eugene in 6 months as promised, I say we go to that show as well.

Did anybody go to the one tonight (weds)? I couldn’t go due to being behind on my schoolwork and being a little under the weather.

Anyway I am pissed that I missed the Red Elvises again, 2nd year in a row. If we can plan ahead again, I will do what I can to make time to go.

Also Micah, glad you have joined our Red Elvises fanclub here.
