Following the development of SOPA has been really informative on just how exhausting it can be to stay current on an issue.
I seriously thought I ‘d remember reading on Tuesday that the bill had died in the House– apparently not…
It seems like anyone with a brain is against this legislation. That it continues to be debated seems to suggest that the pro-SOPA lobbyists have deep pockets.
Kudos to EC for the video. Nice to see the roped Stuttering Craig into the mix.
I question how effective this will be. E3 is months off. So how much leverage do you get by saying you’re going to boycott something that won’t happen for months. It sounds like the ESA could take a “we’ll see about that” approach. I mean, SOPA should have its fate sealed well before E3. Tensions may run high now, but whose to say that in months from now this won’t be water under the bridge. I don’t this threat as particularly frightening to the ESA.
You’d think folks in the industry would be anti-SOPA, but if the ESA is the lobby arm of the industry, it no doubt represents those with money–publishers.
For that matter, how relevant is E3 anyways? Don’t get me wrong, I still keep my ears open. But gaming media is more readily available now than ever before. Gaming magazines, and even E3 itself seem a bit like relics at this point.
